After reading Bianca's blog yesterday I decided it was time to sort my fabric stash because so far my 'sorting' has really just been folding and putting it into a large plastic tub.
So I've seperated the plains from the prints and kind of put them into coordinating colour piles. I wonder how you sort your fabric stash? By designer, colour, florals, stripes...etc?
Soon it will be put back into the tub in their piles but I'm guessing it will not be long before it has to get done again... more fabric arriving soon... shhh :)
So maybe not such a creative space, but soon to be a tidy one in prep for some sweet creations.
Pop on over to Kootoyoo for some really exciting Creative Spaces!
now thats a stash! and I'm working on a blanket too...yours is awesome, hope mine comes out as well!
ReplyDeletei can see why you were inspired by those pics-divine. good luck with the tidy up. i start of well but get a bit distracted
ReplyDeleteone needs to creatively organise every now and then, and it is always so inspiring to start afresh,
ReplyDeleteOh, I love how good those fabrics look together! Lovely space :)
ReplyDeleteNice sorting! My problem is putting things back where they should go...still end up with a pile of random fabric. Hope you have a great, creative day xo
ReplyDeleteIts so much fun playing with fabric isn't it? I sort it by weights/types (i.e. denim and drills together, wools together) then colours that coordinate together, then I might pull out a silk and a wool - for a coat outers and lining.....who am I kidding, its not about organising its about playing :) Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThat IS a tidy space, I love the fabrics too, I think the cowboy is always a favorite for my boys!
ReplyDeleteGood thinking! I just have 2 massive plastic crates that are chockers with all sorts of fabric. Definitely no kind of order.
ReplyDeleteWow - sorting fabric stashes... that's a thought that hadn't occurred to me. Usually I just empty my huge drawer full of fabric onto the dining table, rummage for what I want (or find I had stashed at the bottom) and then fold it all back up to shove back into the drawer.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should sort it.
And have more than one drawer (= more fabric, right?)
Sorting fabric, love it! But I never know how to sort it.....there needs to be a book on that. Maybe there is! xox
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky enough to have a cupboard to keep my fabrics in. I sort them by stripes, spots, plain, floral and checks. After a tidy up they look so good in their piles...but that doesn't seem to last for long! have a fun day sorting your fabrics.
ReplyDeletewow you guys. my grandma always impressed me so with her 'sorting'. she had it all color coded, ironed, and folded in to seperate bins. amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh that guitar fabric is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! it's all sorted now & it's given me a massive urge to sew a lot more.
ReplyDeleteMary, the guitar fabric is Michael Miller I think.
Oh I like your piles of fabric. It is nice for a look to remind yourself what you have!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment about my sock too! Much appreciated!
